Air Flow Regimes and Thermal Comfort In Vehicle Cabin Considering Solar Radiation

Eng. Ibrahim Reda Abdel Salam Abdel Hady;

Abstract

: The main objective of the research conducted in the thesis is to study the airflow regimes and thermal comfort in vehicle cabin considering solar radiation using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software. For this purpose, FLUENT 17.2 is employed, in which the solar radiation model is embedded s2s (surface to surface). The CFD modelling techniques solved the continuity, momentum, energy conservation equations and radiosity in addition to standard k – ε model equations for turbulence closure. Meshing is processed around 4.0 million unstructured tetra-elements approximately.
