Tawfek AbdAl-Raofe Hamed;

Abstract

A pancreatic pseudocyst is a localized collection of pancreatic juice enclosed by a wall of fibrous or granulation tissue, arising as a consequence of pancreatitis, pancreatic trauma, neoplastic obstruction of the pancreatic duct. Pseudocysts account for more than 75% of all cystic lesions of the pancreas. Pseudocysts are found more commonly in men than in women.

Surgical options for the management of pancreatic pseudocysts include:
1-lnternal drainage:

a. Cystojejunostomy to a Roux-en-Y jejunal limb. b. Cystogastrostomy.
c. Cystoduodenostomy.

2- Excisional treatment:

a. Distal pancreatic resection.

b. Pylorus-preserving pancreaticoduodenectomy.

3- External drainage:

a. Percutaneous approach. b. Endoscopic approach:
i. Transmural drainage.

ii. Transpapil/ary drainage.
