INTEGRATED GEOPHYSICAL AND GEOLOGICAL STUDY OF ONSHORE AND OFFSHORE OF NORTH SINAI -EGYPT
Alaa El Din El Shawadfy Hassan;
Abstract
The study area lies on the Northern Sinai. It is restricted between longitudes 32° 45' and 34° 03' E and latitudes 30° 58' and
31° 26' N. In this area, a coordination between the subsurface geology and comprehensive well logging analysis has been carried out on Lower Cretaceous section encountered in 7 wells in North Sinai area. The basic logging data were in the form of Spontaneous potential (SP), Caliper, Induction Laterolog (ILD), Deep and Shallow Laterolog resistivities (LLD, LLS), Micro-Spherically Focused Jog (MSFL), porosity tools (Density, Neutron and Sonic) and Gamma Ray. Moreover the available subsurface data in the form of lithostratigraphic information and regional structural deformation of the area were illustrated.
The first part of the present work is concerned with the
comprehensive logging interpretation of the given logs using Microsoft Excel, DigiRule and Surfer6 computer programms for the quantitative estimations of the subsurface sequence using well logging techniques. This involves the measurements and corrections of the fluid and rock resistivities, the lithologic contents, porosities and the fluid saturations of the encountered reservoir rocks. Lithosaturation cross-plots, M-N plots, FDC-CNL crossplots and (GR-Sonic, GR-Neutron, GR-Density crossplots) were constructed exhibiting the calculated petrophysical parameters of the analyzed formation in the 7 wells under study. Also, a number of percentage maps of the same calculated petrophysical parameters comprising the shale, sandstone and limestone volumes, total and effective porosities and water,
