Protective Effect of Silibinin against Cisplatin-Induced Nephrotoxicity

Abstract
The atm of this study was to evaluate the protective effect of silibinin against nephrotoxicity of cisplatin whether due to single dose or due to repeated drug use, as well as to predict the most suitable time for silibinin administration to offer the greatest nephroprotective effect.
The following experimental studies were done
[A] Single-Dose Study
This study was carried out on 140 adult albino rats divided into seven equal groups, each group was composed of 20 animals.
• Group 1: Negative control group; which did not receive any drug.
• Group II: Positive control group; the animals
of this group were divided into 2 subgroups:
• Group Ila: received saline orally
• Group lib: received saline I.P.
• Group III: Cisplatin group; the animals of this group received cisplatin 5 mglkg B. Wt in a single dose I.P.
