Abstract

The present study was carried out on the Schistosoma mansoni snail vector, Biomplzalaria alexandrina. This investigation aims at separation and characterization of the nuclear proteins of the clean 13. alexandrina snails in comparison with those infected with S. mansoni; i.c.the study was conducted to evaluate the parasite-induced alterations in the nuclear proteins which may affect the genetic transformations of the snail vector.

The nuclei of the clean 13. alexandrina snail tissues were purified and the purity was proved microscopically and biochemically. The contents of nuclei obtained from the clean and infected snails (7 weeks post-infection) such as DNA, histones and nonhistones were quantitatively determined.
