Serum Leptin and Insulin Hormone Levels in unexplained Recurrent Pregnancy Loss

Abstract


In this study 72 pregnant women were rolled in a prospective and comparative study from both the attendants outpatient clinic wards of Obstetrics and Gynecology Department in Ain Shams University Hospital.
All participants were selected to fulfill the inclusion and exclusion criteria of the study and divided into two groups:
Group A: 36 pregnant women with previous normal pregnancies.
Group B: 36 pregnant women with recurrent unexplained early pregnancy loss (≥ 2 previous abortions).
All women were subjected to full history taking, general examination, local examination, ultrasound and laboratory investigations.
Serum level of Leptin and Insulin hormones were measured. First sample was taken at 5-8thweek of gestation and another at 10-12thweek.
There was no statistical significant difference between the two groups as regard age, BMI and gravidity.
There was significant difference between both groups regarding parity as it was lower in group B.
