EVALUATION OF HESPERIDIN [FLAVONOID] AS A DIRECT PULP CAPPING MATERIAL

Ebtesam Osama Hassan Abo El-Mal;

Abstract

Pulp vitality is extremely important for tooth viability. Direct
pulp protection after exposure due to caries or injuries permits
preservation of the pulp. Therefore; the aim of the present study was
to introduce Hesperidin [Flavonoid] as a new pulp capping material
and evaluate some physical and biological properties comparing
them to MTA and Calcium Hydroxide-based cements.
Setting time, radiopacity, pH and solubility were evaluated
according to ANSI/ADA specification no. 57. Seventy-two samples
were divided into three main groups -according to the material- each
containing 24 samples: Group I (Hesperidin), Group II: MTAAngelus

& Group III: Dycal (control group). Each group was
subdivided into three subgroups: Subgroup A: determining the
setting time (n=8), Subgroup B: evaluating radiopacity (n=8) and
finally Subgroup C: evaluating the solubility and pH (n=8).
