CORRELATIV'i STUDY BETWEEN PLASMA RENIN ACTIVITY, SERUM LEPTIN AND SERUM INSULIN IN PATIENTS WITH CONTROLLED AND UNCONTROLLED ESSENTIAL HYPERTENSION
Mohamed Hamimi Abdallah;
Abstract
Systemic hypertension is one of the commenest diseases that affect man, and its control is one of the challenges that face medical practitioners all over the world.
The association between systemic hypertension, obesity, glucose intolerance or diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia and insulin resistance in what is known as the metabolic syndrome makes it important to study the inter relationship between these entities.
The renin-angiotensin aldosterone system serves vital homeostatic needs of the body to protect against life-threatining loss of salt and extracellular fluid volume under conditions of a salt-deficient environment.
