Our study was conducted at A.in Shams Matemity Hospital, where patients attending the Special Care Center for the Fetus, for diagnostic amniocentesis, were asked to participate in this study.
Almriotic fluid samples were taken from 86 pregnant females. 60 females were passively exposed to side stream smoke from their husbands, other faruily members or co workers. 26 females reported themselves as non-exposed to tobacco smoke.
Beside measuring the concentration of cotinine in the allllliotic fluid by ELISA technique, detailed ultrasound, biophysical profile and cardiotocography were done for all the patients.
