Seroprevalence of Non-A Non-B Viral Hepatitis Among Egyptians: Epidemiological Aspects

Abstract
The ann of the present study is to evaluate the prevalence of non-A non-B viral hepatitis infections among different age groups in the Egyptian population, and its correlation to certain epidemiological factors like history of hospitalization, place of birth, residence and scioeconomic level. This study was conducted on 450 apparently nonnal subjects (ranging in age from 0. 75 to 75 years old) categorized into eight different study groups according to age. A brief study questionnaire that focused on demo o>raphic characteristics and medical risk factors for liver disease was done on subjects. Our study showed higher incidence of HCY, HBY and HEY infection among E oryptian population. HEY was a childhood infection but HCY was acquired at old ages.
