Abstract
In this study twelve patients were selected from the outpatient clinic of prosthodontic Department, Faculty of Dentistry, Ain Shams University.
Two groups were selected, each group contains six patients.
Group A: Completely edentulous maxillary and mandibular ridges with the last extraction preformed at least three months ago.
Group B: Patients with completely edentulous maxillary ridge and remaining two mandibular teeth, one on each quadrant, laterals, canines or premolars.
The selected patients were free from any systemic diseases, para-functional habits, smoking habits and temporo-mandibular joint disorder.
In group B patients the two remaining teeth are free from acute periodontal infection and indicated for extraction.
Intra and extra oral examination were done for all patients.
Upper and lower complete dentures were constructed following conventional technique for both groups.
Two implants were inserted at the interforminal area with two ball abutments in group A patients, while in group B patients two implants were inserted immediately after extraction of the two remaining teeth in thier extraction sockets.
