Studies on Some Physicochemical and Catalytic Properties of Iron Oxide Catalysts

Hala Rashad Ahmad Mahmoud;

Abstract

Unsupported Fe2O3 catalyst is prepared by precipitation method from two different precursors. Supported Fe2O3 on γ-Al2O3 and MgO are the parent's catalysts of this work. These catalysts are prepared by impregnation method having nominal formula FeAlO and FeMgO, respectively. The impregnation method was carried out by using known amounts of Al(OH)3 and Mg(OH)2 using different amounts of iron nitrate varied between 2.5 and 6.5%. The unsupported iron hydroxide samples prepared from two different precursors (nitrate and sulphate) were treated with different amounts of copper nitrate having nominal formula CuFeOn and CuFeOs, respectively. The copper nitrate content in CuFeOn and CuFeOs varied between (5 & 20%) and (2.5 & 10%), respectively. Doping various prepared catalysts with foreign cations was studied. CuFeO system was doped with Li2O with amounts varied between 0.75 and 4.50 %. The catalysts calcined at temperatures ranged between 400-800°C for 4 h.
