Abstract

Cardiovascular disease are one of the leading causes of death in all over the world, Although it is regarded as a disease of advanced age, and acute coronary syndrome among young adults is relatively low when compared with older population, it has high prevalence and higher cardiac mortality in the young patients.
Acute coronary syndrome )ACS( encompasses a broad spectrum of clinical conditions from unstable angina (UA) to non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) to ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Formerly associated with more wealthy and developed countries, it has now cut across socio-economic and geographical lines locally and universally. Strategies have been implemented over decades ago in countries like the U.S., France, Sweden and Norway and are only starting to bear fruit now, reflective of the indolent silently progressive nature of CAD.
There are few data regarding ACS in young patients as they have some characteristics that are different from those in older patients, and most of the studies involving young ACS patients are reported from Western countries, and presently, there is no enough contemporary data on the risk factors, angiographic features and data of such patients in Egypt.
