Abstract

The present study was carried out to study the effect of vitaminE administration on the outcome of acute kidney injury via modifying coagulopathy. The study was carried out on 58adult female ratsweighing (185-250 grams) which were allocated into four studied groups:
Group I: (Sham-operated group)(n=18):
Rats in this group underwent surgical procedure identical to those of ischemia/reperfusion group (IR) except that clamps were not applied.
Group II: (Bilateral renal ischemia/ reperfusion group; IR) (n=20):
Rats in this group weresubjected to bilateral renal IR (45 minutes of ischemia and 24 hours of reperfusion).
GroupIII: (Ischemia/reperfusion group pretreated with Vitamin E Acetate; IRpret) (n=10):
Rats in this group received a single i.p. injection of large dose vitamin E acetate immediately before induction of IR.
