ASSESSMENT OF CYANOACRYLATE BASED PRODUCTS AS INTERPOSITIONING SUBSTANCE IN SURGICAL REPAIR OF VESICOVAGINAL FISTULA

George Zakaria Sabry Hanna;

Abstract

The mean operative times were shorter than that of the literature (90 minutes vs. 98 minutes in the transvaginal approaches, 146.4 minutes vs. 167 minutes in the trans-abdominal intraperitoneal approaches and 180 minutes vs. 233 minutes in the transvesical approach). There was a significant difference between the mean operative times of the surgical repair with and without the use of additional interpositioning flaps (168 vs. 84 minutes respectively). The overall success rate was 90% vs. 91.63% in the literature; the trans-abdominal intraperitoneal approach was 100% vs. 97.05% in literature and the transvaginal approach was 90% vs. 93.82% in literature. The drain time and hospital stay period were shorter compared to the literature (2-3 vs. 5-6 days). No dire side effects were encountered except 2 cases of failure.
