ACETYLATOR PHENOTYPE IN LYMPHOMAS
Basem Magdy Youssef William;
Abstract
Acetylation is mediated in humans by the hepatic enzyme group N acetyltransferase. The rates of acetylation vary considerably between individuals, who may be categorized as fast and slow acetylators. The
relation between the acetylator phenotype and malignant disease is well
established for bladder and colon cancer. The incidence of malignant lymphomas has been increasing steadily for the last 30 years. Malignant lymphomas are one of the commonest cancers among Egyptians and a leading cause of cancer-related deaths.
The ann of this work is to study the frequency of acetylation phenotypes in patients with malignant lymphomas and to correlate the frequency of these phenotypes with demographic, pathological, and clinical variables of these patients.
