ESTIMATION OF THE LEVEL OF ATRIAL NATRIURETIC PEPTIDE IN NORMAL AND IN PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC HEART FAlLURE

Abstract

This work was carried out on 74 subjects divided into two .groups group (I) includes 60 subjects divided according to age into 5 subgroups 12 each:

Gt•oup (13) Group (Ib) Group (Ic) Group (Id)

Group (le)

l 0- I 5 years old. I 5-20 years old. 20-30 years old. 30-40 years old. above 40 years old.

The 2nd group (II) include I 4 patients with heart failure of different causes. We estimated ANP level in various ages at different times of the day for (group Ic ld) we also estimated ANP level in patients with congestive heart failure.

ANP levels were estimated using enzymatic Immuno­

assay method.

(A) ANP levels 111 I 0 to 15 15 to 20 20 to 30 30 to 40 and above 40 yearsold (mean± SD) were 79.33 ± 13.95 81 ± 10.75 94.5 ± 7.90 77.17 ± 9.67 73.25± 12.74Pg/ml respectively with no correlation ship between level and age (R = 0.006) confim1 results of several other investigators and settle ANP normal values in various age groups.
