Abstract


From the results of our study we have concluded that patients with acute gastroenteritis with passage of watery stool and suffering from mild or moderate dehydration, when received amylase resistant starch ,their were no significant effect on the duration of diarrhea-whatever the cause of diarrhea-,on the degree of dehydration , on the weight gain of the child during administration of this type of ORS, and on the effect of oral rehydration therapy to control losses .While the patients who received WHO-ORS ,had less tendancy to received intravenous fluid therapy to correct dehydration and control losses,with significant difference in gainig weight.
