Safaa Mahmoud Hussein Ali;

Abstract

The present investigation was designed to study the potentialities of statins production by 574 isolates of fungi belonging to 13 genera and 46 species in addition to four species varieties. Analysis of the different components of statins produced by the isolates of highly lovastatin contents was also aimed. Study of the effect of different nutritional and environmental factors (carbon source, nitrogen source, pH value, temperature, and incubation period on the fungal growth and lovastatin production were made. A trial for studying microbiological transformation of lovastatin was also aimed.
