Abstract

Uterine prolapse refers to a condition in which the uterus
slip out below its normal anatomical position in the pelvic
cavity, which protruded into vaginal canal or entirely inverted
outside the vagina that called procidentia. This may be
associated with one or more of pelvic floor disorders, such
as vaginal prolapse and rectocele (Kenny and Wright, 2011).
Uterine prolapse has multiple approaches for treatment,
which include conservative treatment as pessary, estrogen
topical application, and surgical treatment. However, some of
these treatment modalities may cause complications that affect
women's life. Maya massage is one of the alternative therapies
which help in natural healing with external non-invasive self
manipulation for abdominal pelvic organs (Lewis, 2013).
Nurses play important roles in the diagnosis and
treatment of uterine prolapse, which helps women adapt with
their lifestyle modifications by providing health care services
and increasiing awareness about uterine prolapse and Maya
abdominal self-care massage as a type of complementary
alternative therapy “CAT” for uterine prolapse to be safe and
effective treatment (Yildirim et al., 2010).
The present study aimed to investigate the effect of Maya
massage on relieving uterine prolapse degrees. To achieve the
study objective, an intervention study had been implemented at

at Ain-Shams University Maternity Hospital. A purposive
sample was used to recruit thirty women with 0, I, II stages of
uterine prolapse.
