Abstract


Rectal Cancer is ranked the fourth among other malignancies cording to the hospital based registry with an incidence of 3 % , it
)resents 16.1% of the malignant tumours of the digestive organs. The Male/

male ratio is 1.9 with mean age 45 years.


The clinical presentation varies relatively according to the

)rphology of the tumour. Bleeding occurs in 55% of patients, tenesmus in

%. obstruction in 9% while other symptoms in 2% of cases.


In Egypt, Bilharziasis is a major health problem among Egyptians it is the most frequent endemic parasitic disease, with an overall
9valence rate of 37 - 48%, and an early age of onset. Despite the


evalence of Bilharzia! disease no

oetiological relation has been


arly provided between bilharziasis and rectal cancer similar to that

1served in bladder cancer.


Other precancerous lesions as FAP and ulcerative colitis are rarely

1counted among Egyptian patients received at the department of surgery -
