Sexual Dysfunction and Paraphilias of General Medical Hospital Male In-Patients

Abstract
Sexual dysfunction is frequently seen in male in-patients. The factors re sponsible for it might be crudely divided, however into three categories; physical factors, individual psychological factors and relationship factor.
Subject & method; a sample of 80 male patients were taken consecu tively from the medical and surgical departments in cairo university hospi tals and they were subjected to (1) psychiatric sheet (2) GHQ (3) liEF (4)

2 hours post prandial blood sugar Results, (1) 25% were diagnosed to have
psychiatric disorder (2) 52.5% had positive GHQ (3) 19 were considered to have low social support while 61% have high social support (4) six diabetic patients have lower scores of liEF than other patients in the same category. (5) Scores of liEF increase with some items of the SCL like hostility and OCD while it decrease with other items like somatization, anxiety and in terpersonal sensitivity. Conclusion; psychiatric comorbidity diagnosed by GHQ is much higher than that diagnosed by clinical interview (2) patients with psychiatric comorbidity suffer from depressive syndrome (3) negative correlation of sexual function with age (4) D.M. has negative effect on sex ual function (5) There is a significant negative correlation of the liEF scores with somatization, anxiety and interpersonal sensitivity (6) There is significant positive correlation of the scores of liEF to hostility and OCD.
