Yasser Mohamed EI-Sayed Salem;
Abstract
The rational of this study aimed at evaluation of four different methods of myocardial protection in patients undergoing CABG surgery.
Eighty patients underwent CABG surgery were assigned to one of four groups: Group I, including twenty patients who received cold crystalloid cardioplegia; Group II, twenty patients who received intermittent cold blood cardioplegia; Group III, twenty patients who received hypothermic continuous blood cardioplegia; and Group IV, twenty patients who received continuous warm blood cardioplegia with normothermic CPB.
The preoperative patient characteristics were corpparable in the four groups.
The total cardioplegic volume used was significantly higher m groups III and IV, due to the continuous delivery of cardioplegia in these groups.
