Development of a Robust Hybrid Vehicle Power Management Control System

Rabab Yousry El-Saed;

Abstract

Hybrid vehicles are considered a good transition from internal combustion engine driven vehicle to complete electric vehicles as they have a great advantage of having an on board electric generation source that helps reduce the battery sizing and gives more reliabilities of the hybrid vehicles.
The development of a robust hybrid vehicle power management control system that can help utilize the power sources in an efficient way is adopted in this thesis where different fuzzy basic logic approaches are tested and validated against the matlab Simulink Advisor tool box.
A simple small size parallel hybrid vehicle model is used to test the developed controls.
The results demonstrated a good agreement of fuel consumption, state of charge of batteries as well as the standard cycle test time with the ADVISOR results on the same vehicle model.
