PARATHYROID HORMONE - RELATED PROTEIN IN TRACHEAL SPIRATES OF NEWBORN INFANTS
OLA ABDO ESSA BARAKAT;
Abstract
Statistical analysis of the obtained clinical and laboratory data showed that :
• The mean of gestaional age and birth weight show a highly significant increase in full term neonates when compared to preterm neonates.
• The degree of respiratory distress as evaluated by silverman score was significantly lower in full terms when compared to preterms. •
• Regarding the heamatological parameters we found that TLC was significantly higher in fullterm neonates compared to preterm neonates.
• The level of PTHrp in the tracheal aspirates of full term infants was found to be higher than the level in tracheal aspirates of preterm neonates.
• Among the full term neonates, CRP positive neonates show a non significant decrease in the level of PTHrp when compared to CRP negative neonates.
• Among the preterm neonates, CRP positive neonates show a non significant increase in the level of PTHrp when compared to CRP negative neonates.
• A postive significant correlation between the level of
PTHrp in tracheal of all patients and their gestational age and birth weight:
Finally, we concluded that PTHrp in tracheal aspirate of newborn i?fants could be used as a parameter for neonatal lung maturation.
