Juvenile osteoarthritis: Causes, Pathogenesis and updated management

Dahlia Mamdouh Ahmed Taher;

Abstract

This essay aims at focusing light on the various approaches on juvenile OA (Secondary or premature) OA & how to manage the condition. The management will help us know how to prevent and how to treat the disease, this has been delt with, under the supervision of data from the ACR & other successfully brought data from various clinical sites.
The cause of this disease is mainly congenital (ie., both parents already have the disease, or one of both parents)& hence the child will also have it. It also is caused by traumatic condition, or obesity. Inactivity & lack of exercise also are factors that contribute to the disease.
If the child shows avascular necrosis on the head of the femur on a normal x-ray, that means that the child has leggh-calve-pesthes disease , if the disease is left untreated, the child will have OA on adult age, so, we must all major in consulting, diagnose & evaluating the disease as much as possible, in order to protect our children from the upcoming episodes of disability & deterioration.
The disease as shown to be a traumatic condition, henc we (doctors) would try hard in order to stop the suffocation.
This also could be done by research in the pathognomonic modalities of the disease as this would help us deal with the disease by, finding for an example, the chondrocytes & its role in Angiogenic- function & how it deals with the process of balance between the progress & deterioration of bone, the chondrocytes synthesize collagens &prteoglycans, which are the light source for cartilage built-up. There are other terms that would keep the synovium in good condition. These are lipid mediators (eiosamides) &pgs, mechanical stresses , hence OA is initiated& terminated after the big role of the chondrocyte.
Thus we now are able to put our hand & approach the disease process, as much as we can. But the question is,are we going to be able to treat the disease promptly & correctly? This question will be, yes, after we have searched all through overwhelming condition. In order to treat the disease well we must know, How we prevent it. Hence prevention of the disease will go as, reversing the cause, that is the etiology.
