A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF BIO-ORGANIC FERTILIZATION ON SOME BARLEY CULTIVARS

Ibrahim Faraj Mohamed Mussa;

Abstract

The present investigation aimed to study a comparative study of bio and organic fertilization on some barley cultivars at the Faculty of Agriculture, (Saba Basha) Alexandria University for the three successive growing seasons 2008/2009 and 2009/2010.

The experimental design was a split-plot design with three replicates. The main plots were assigned to three cultivars (Giza 123, Aksad and Oroar -Asha). The subplat to the organic-bio-fertilization treatments (Control. Organic, Microbein, Cearline and Organic
+Mycorrhizae). The obtained results could be summarized as follows:

A) Growth analysis:
These samples were taken at random from the second and nineteen of each plat at
60, 75 and 90 days from sowing to recorded the following date.

1- Plant height (em):
The three barley cultivars had significant differences in plant height at different
samples sin the two growing seasons. Oroar-Asha (Libyin Cultivar) had significantly greater values than other cultivars in both seasons.
Mycorrhizae inoculation gave the tallest plant as compared the other bio-organic
treatments.

2- Dry matter accumulation (g/m2):
Significant differences among three cultivars at most characters were found •at
three samples in the two growing seasons. The results indicated that Giza 123 gave the highest values of dry matter accumulation at all growth stages.
Bio-organic fertilization showed highly significant increase on dry matter
accumulation at different growth stages both seasons with mycorrhizae and microbein inoculation.

3- Leaf area index (LAI):
The differences among the three cultivars in leaf area index was significant at the
first sample in the first season and two samples in the second season. The highest values at leaf area index was recorded by Oroar Asha in the two seasons.
Bio and organic fertilization showed highly significant increase on leaf area index
at the second growth in both seasons with myorrhizae inoculation.

4- Crop growth rate (CGR): (g/m 2/week)
The differences among the three cultivars in crop growth rate was significant at
two period of growth in both seasons. The highest values of crop growth rate was
recorded by Aksad cultivar in the two seasons.
Bio-organic fertilizers showed significant increase on crop growth rate at the two
period in both seasons with microbein.
