Abstract
Colposcopy is one of screening tests that are performed to detect disease that causes specific morbidity or mortality before symptoms are evident. Despite government and health services for screening programs there are neglecting and ignorance of women toward utilization of colposcopy as a preventive method for decreasing gynaecological morbidity and mortality. In Egypt opportunistic screening still does not cover all target population and even the high risk groups are screened accidentally. The current situation requires effective multidisciplinary efforts to elevate women’s awareness and to develop a control system. This system will detect those who are missed out. The nurse has and will have a brilliant and substantial role to have these ideas suitable for application in a developing country like Egypt.
The present study aimed to assess women’s knowledge and reactions toward colposcopy. the study was conducting at early cancer detection unit of Ain Shams University Maternity Hospital.
