Abstract

Primary varicose veins of the lower extremities is a disease that is common among the middle aged population; that is among the individuals representing the manpower of a nation. It's clinical presentation and Gomplications represent a consistent headache for phlebologists in order to achieve a curative treatment which is up till now not assured. Also, the economic burden associating the treatment of the disease and its complications are a major concern to the health professionals.

The disease results from valvular insufficiency that is not preceeded by IJVT and is not due to congenital venous valvular anomalies in origin. Treatment philosophies include a wide range of possibilities beginning with ordinary avulsion ligation of the SFJ and triple ligation of perforators to major operations of valvular and venous reconstruction. Over the past few decades, lchere has been a great debate over the role of every venous system in the development of the clinical picture and complications of CVI, as this has a major impact on the choice of the adequate surgical procedure. Also, there has been a great debate about the best diagnostic tool that actually identifies the venous segments involved, to allow for the accurate planning of the surgery, and consequently the best end results.
