Endovascular Management of Aorto-iliac Diseases

Abstract


Endovascular surgery is a very rapidly developing branch. Although it was started in 1964, nowadays endovascular surgery has become a distinct entity with high success rates.

We are not exaggerating facts when mention that endovascular surgery is in a daily development.

Although it's a very interesting and appealing branch owing to its easy techniques, short hospital stay, it's still 1as many well known drawbacks.

In this essay, we spotlight on different methods of endovascular management of aortoiliac diseases, preceded by approaching the histopathological background of atherosclerosis as a major cause of aortoiliac occlusive and aneurysmal diseases.

The methods of endovacular surgery that involved in the study are :
I. Percutaneus balloon Angioplasty which has high
success rates, but in some cases, supoptimal PTA
push us to the use stents and stent grafts.
2. Stents.
3. Stent grafts
4. Endovascular grafts for AAA repair.

The work involves identification of the technique of each type, indications, drawbacks and results.
