Abstract

The study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of the platelets rich fibrin vs anorganic bovine bone mineral as grafting materials used in post extraction socket in the anterior maxillary region and their effect on implant primary stability assessed by means of insertion torque and resonance frequency analysis.
Forty two fresh extraction sockets in twenty seven patients with average age of 41.5 years old were included. The subjects were randomly allocated into three groups. The study group consists of sockets where PRF was placed, the positive control consists of sockets where Xenogeneic bone graft were placed along with collagen plug and negative control consists sockets that are left to heal without the use of any grafting materials.
Each group was further divided into two subgroups: implant placement and assessment at three months and implant placement and assessment at six months interval.
All subjects were assessed clinically at the time of implant placement. Assessment was done using insertion torque wrench and Resonance Frequency Analysis.
Results were tabulated and assessed using Student t test, One Way ANOVA test and Pearson correlation test to assess effect of time and socket augmentation material.
