The portal hemodynamics after inferior mesenterico-renal shunt in portal hypertensive bleeders
Walid Mohamed Wajuih;
Abstract
In the present work twenty patients of portal hypertension with bleeding esophageal varices have been studied as regards portal hemodynamics before and after inferior mesenterico-renal shunt. They were 15 males and 5 females, the mean age of the patients were 38.35+13.47 years. Fourteen of the patients were Child A classification and six was Child B classification.
All patients where subjected to color duplex and endoscopy to study the portal hemodynamics preoperative.
shunt.
All patients where subjected to inferior mesenterico-renal
Color duplex and endoscopy were done for all patients postoperative to study the portal hemodynamics and variceal state. We came to the following results after inferior mesenterico-renal shunt:
Results:
1. Significant decrease m portal vem diameter and
• .. insignificant decrease in portal vein flow and velocity.
2. Insignificant decrease in splenic vein diameter, flow and velocity.
