The value of Impulse Oscillometry in Diagnosis of Interstitial Lung Diseases
Riham Ahmed Farouk Ahmed;
Abstract
The term interstitial lung disease (ILD) refers to a broad category of lung diseases rather than a specific disease entity. It includes a variety of illnesses with diverse causes, treatments, and prognoses. These disorders are grouped together because of similarities in their clinical presentations, plain chest radiographic appearance, and physiologic features (Clin Chest Med., 2004).
Impulse Oscillation technique is a technique modified and computerized in a way that allows measurement of respiratory impedance, total respiratory resistance and reactance components over a range of oscillating frequencies within seconds, with simple tidal breathing (Al-Mutairi et al., 2007).
The aim of this study is to evaluate the value of IOS in diagnosis of the cases of interstitial lung diseases.
