Comparative Study Between the Use of Bassini 1s Repair and Bilayer Patch Device In the Repair of Primary Croin Hernia Type Ill

Nabil William Wassef;

Abstract

Repair of groin hernias still to be one of the most common operations in general surgery(2).
Understanding the anatomy of the inguinal region is a must if a sound repair of groin hetnia is desired.
The aetiology of groin hernia is multifactorial, patent procesus

vaginalis, weak fascia transversalis, collagen malsynthesis, smoking, genetic factors and factors that increase the intraabdominal pressure all are accused.
So many classifications are present to classify the inguinal hernia such as Nyhus, Gilbert, Robbins and Rutkow classifications. We used Gilberts classification in our study.
There are two basic rules of hernia management, these are, the

hernias don't get smaller with time and patients don't get younger and healthier with time.
A variety of methods have been developed for the management of

inguirial hernia, and this means no single operation is classic for all patients.
The aim of this work was to evaluate the repair with the Bilayer device "PHS" (as the latest advance in inguinal hernia repair) and compare it with the original Bassin's repair in the management of type III primary groin hernias.
The study was carried out on 40 randomly chosen male patients

with type III primary groin hernia and patients equally divided into two groups.
