The Validity 0f Quantitative Computed Tomography for Assessment of Bone Quality in Potential Implant Site In Bone of The Mandible

Walaa Abd El Aty Shahata Ahmad;

Abstract

The key to success of any surgical implant procedure is the proper preoperative treatment planning. The diagnosis should integrate information obtained from a thorough clinical examination and a properly conducted radiographic examination.

Twenty patients at an age range between thirty to fifty years old with proposed implant sites in mandible were selected for this study. Dental computed tomography was used in order to show the validity of MSCT in measurement of bone density in proposed implant sites.

Knowledge of the location of the anatomical structures as well as estimation of the quantity and quality of the alveolar bone, are essential to assess the dimensions of the implant, number of implants, the angulation, and the additional treatment before surgical procedure.
