ZEINAB ABD EL- AAL SALEH;
Abstract
This study was done to evaluate the effect. of aflatoxins consumption on different• metabolic f•unc.tibris in the body. Varying concentrations of aflatoxins were given to animals either as toxin-containing:. mold contaminated wheat or crude aflatoxins extract.
In experiment No. I, two diets were formulated based on wheat previously contaminated with 0.02 and 0.4 ppm aflatoxins. Each of these two diets was given to a group of rats (7 animals} and the feeding period was continued for 6 weeks. The. change in certain biochemical parameters as plasma glucose, ALP, ALT, AST, total protein, albumin, T. bilirubin, cholesterol, creatinine, BUN, plasma vitamin A and C was followed. The results indicated that there was no appreciable effect of these levels of contamination with aflatoxins on the forementioned parameters.
