Abstract


Periodontal disease caused by interaction of bacterial plaque and the host which results in the destruction of the supporting bone and connective tissue.



Smoking cigarettes is considered as the most important single environmental factor associated with periodontal disease.



The present study investigated the pattern of periodontal disease among cigarette smokers and compared
with non-smokers. It also evaluated the habit of

cigarette smoking among the Egyptian E!mployees in Cairo.





The adverse effect of smoking on periodontal health has been demonstrated in the analysis of the dental data and smoking history data collected from the target population of the study. Two hundred males aged between
30-50 years old were investigated in the present study.
