Clinical Relevance of Serum Anti P53 in Patients With Colorectal Carcinoma

Abstract


This study is based on preoperative estimation of level of serum anti-p53 antibodies in 30 patients with colorectal carcinoma, presented to NEMROCK and Nasser Institute in the period from 1st No. (2002) to 3l'h April (2003) with correlation with clinical presentation of the patient and results of work up done for these patients.


All patients were• thoroughly examined and investigated by lower endoscopy, biopsy, chest X-ray, CT pelvi-abdominal, tumour markers, routine laboratory tests including ESR After analyzing the data, we found the following characteristics:
*Lymph node status:

50% (15 patients) were presented with negative lymph nodes,

36.6% (II patients) were presented with N, nodal stage and 13.3% (4 patients) were presented with N2 nodal stage.


One case from N 1 patients was positive for serum anti-p53. antibody and all patients with N2 stage were positive for serum anti­ p53 antibodies.
