Abstract


The present work was can•ied out on 299 lambs and 14 ewes, out of them 246 pneumonic lambs, 39 apparently healthy lambs while the remainder lambs and ewes were used to evaluate the efficiency of levamisole as a non specific immunostimulant

Experiment 1:

Monitoring the etiological factors of pneumonic lambs:

[n this experiment 285 lambs of one day up to 3 month old were used, 39 of them were apparently healthy and used as control group and the remainder were clinically pneumonic in order to study the etiological factors of pneumonic lambs.
•I•) Predisposing, mangemental and stress factors that contribute to ovm' e pneumom' a:
The present experiment demonstrate that seasonal and environmental temperature t1uctuation, inhalation of dust particles, overcrowding, weaning, transportation and inadequate passive transfer of maternal antibodies were the main stress factors that predisposing lamb to pneumonia.
b) Bacterial agents causing pneulllonia:

A total number of 335 samples from respiratory tract of apparently healthy and pneumonic lambs were subjected to bacteriological cxalllination to study the incidence of bacterial pneumoma.
