METAL COMPLEXES OF SOME SCHlFF BASES DERIVED FROM 4-FORMYLANTIPYRINE

Abstract

The thesis comprises mainly three chapters, which are described as follows:- • I . Introduction :-

In this chapter, a literature survey is made on :-

I-1. The impOiiance of antipyrine derivatives and their metal complexes. I-2. Metal omplexes of Schiff bases derived from 4- aminoantipyrine and 4-formylantipyrine.

II. Experimental:-

In this chapter, the methods used for preparation ofN,N'-ethylene­ bis- (4-formylantipyrineimine) (L\ N,N'- propylene bis (4-formylan­ tipyrineimine) (L 2) and N,N'-pentane bis (4-formylantipy-rineimine) (L3) and their copper(II), cobalt(II) and nickei(II) complexes are described. The techniques of elemental analysis, molar conductivities, magnetic susceptibility measurements and spectral studies (IR,U.V, Vis, 1H N.M.R) and thermal studies (TGA) are described.
