OUT PATIENT RAPID INTRAVENOUS• REHYDRATION TO CORRECT DEHYDRATION & RESOLVE VOMITING IN CHILDREN WITH ACUTE GASTROENTERITIS

Abstract
To detennine the efficacy of out patient rapid intravenous rehydration in correcting dehydration and resolving vomiting in children with mild to moderate dehydration resulting from acute Gastroenteritis, a sample of 80 patients aged from 6 month to 5 years attending to Abou El Reesh Hospital ( Gastroenteritis unit ) suffering from acute Gastroenteritis and clinically estimated mild to• moderate dehydration was taken. All patients had been vomiting for less than 48 hours and had vomited at least 5 times during the 24 hours preceding the presentation.
For each patients a blood gas analysis and serum electrolytes were taken. The patients in the sample were divided into 2 groups each of 40 patient.
