AHMAD EL-SA YED EL- TANTA WY;

Abstract

Injury of the extensor tendons of fingers and thumb are common, as the extensor tendons are predisposed to laceration because of superficial location on the dorsum of the hand and the minimal amount of subcutaneous tissue between the tendons and the overlaying skin. The anatomic feature of the long extensor tendons of the fingers and the extensor mechanism on the dorsum of phalanx are more complex . The anatomy, histology and the biomechanics of the extensor tendons was discused in this study.

Extensor tendons injuries may be simple or associated with: Skin loss, fracture, intra-articlar extension of the injury and
I or burn. The injury may be open or closed.
