Abstract


Convulsions are the commonest and most alarming of neurological problems in children. The reported prevalence f febrile onvulsions n children under I 0 years is 5.2 to 8. I per thousand Generalized tonic clonic seizures are the most common type of afebrile seizures ccurrmg n childhood .


Children with seizure disorders require prolonged antiepileptic drugs (AED) for .at least 2 seizure rree years. It is, therefore, mportant o dentify rug that controls seizures effectively with minimal side effects. In addition; cost is another important factor that influences, the choice of the drug in developing countries.
