Analysis of the Coastal Tourism Development Relative to the Environmental, Economic and Planning Concepts

Abstract


Tourism industry is one of the main sources of the economical income of nations. It represents a very high potential factor in the economical status of the nations. Therefore, it needs special consideration. For this reason, it was essential to define the different factors governing this potential industry either positively or negatively. One of those main factors was found to be the Environmental factors and the different natural attractive· resources. These Environmental factors were found to be the basis of the tourism industry (especially the leisure tourism), consequently tourism industry also affects the Environment, which in its turn determines the level of supplied tourism facilities.
Therefore, it is clear that there exists a very strong cycle connecting the Environment with the tourism industry. Thus, it is essential . to ameliorate and protect both the Environment and the tourism industry - as connected factors- to improve the economical Development of any nation.
Egypt has enormous tourism potentials, represented by many resources, but one ofthe most important resources attracting the tourists in Egypt are the natural resources such as the sea, coral reefs, and mountains.
For this reason, it was important to discuss the relation between the tourism industry and the Environment and to discuss the different impacts that result from ignoring the importance of the Environmental factors. Accordingly, this research is concerned with defining those relations to prevent any further damage to the natural resources and to save the remaining Environmental resources from destruction and depletion and to coordinate and improve simultaneously the Economic Development related to the tourism industry.

The research work is divided into three parts as follows:
Part 1: Environmental and Economic Principles
This part is composed of two chapters discussing the Environmental and economic principles. It discusses the main issues related to the Environment. It clarifies the importance of the Environment to the human well-being as well as to the different forms of activities and Development with special emphasis on the tourism Development. In addition, it presents the different concepts that discuss the Environment and their relationship with Management policies (Sustainability Concepts) along with the
