COMPLICATIONS OF VESICOURETERIC REFLUX IN CHILDREN AS A PREVENTABLE PROBLEM

Hala Mohamed Lotfy;

Abstract

Vesicoureteric reflux is considered an important structural abnormality that predisposes to urinary tract infection and

renal damage. (Tamminen et al.,1992). The study assessed the role of color flow Doppler sonography (CFDS) in diagnosis and follow up of VUR, to help to prevent its complications . The study found that CFDS of the bladder is a reliable and sensitive modality for identifying VUR and it also nullifies. the dan.ger of exposure to ionizing Radiation, and unpleasant cathetarization. Also detecting the laterality of the ureteric orifice may be useful for predicting the children with UTI who would benefit from VCUG.
