Comparative Study Between Anderson-Hynes Pyeloplasty Through Transperitoneal Laparoscopic Approach Versus Pyeloplasty Through Vertical Lumbotomy Approach In UPJO Repair

Abstract
Ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO) is a common cause of upper urinary tract obstruction and is the most common congenital cause of obstruction. The theories explaining the aetiology are categorized to intrinsic causes like aperistaltic segment, valvular fold or a high inserted ureter while extrinsic causes include a crossing vessel or secondary to VUR.
Presenting symptoms usually are pain, stones or UTI. Diagnostic radiological investigations start usually with U/S followed by IVP then a diuretic renogram measured by T1/2 to assess obstruction, Also dynamic contrasted MRU is gaining ground everyday and uses the RTT to assess obstruction.
Treatment option of UPJO involves conservative and surgical approaches. The golden standard in PUJO surgeries is the dismembered technique; the approach includes open surgeries or laparoscopic surgery.
