Profiling Serum Fibrinogen Level in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Patients

Abstract


The present study was conducted at Abbasia Chest Hospital in the period from January 2015 until December 2016 upon 3 groups of subjects:
Group A: included twenty stable COPD patients with no history of exacerbation in the last three months. They were recruited from out patient's clinic in Abbasia Chest Hospital.
Group B: included twenty COPD patients admitted to chest ward in Abbasia Chest Hospital with an acute exacerbation.
Group C: included twenty normal non-smoker subjects representing the control group.
The aim of this work was to measure the serum level of fibrinogen in COPD stable patients and patients during exacerbation compared to healthy individuals.
For all studied subjects the following were done:
• Full history taking with medical history.
• Complete thorough clinical examination both general and local chest examinations.
