Abstract
5.1 Introduction
This thesis studied the main objective for maintenance management system for Egyptian railway tracks taking into account the recent technology and software programs to realize safety and economy track maintenance.
Firstly, track classification based on factors affecting track maintenance is proposed; secondly, applications on this methodology for ENR network is studied to relate the required traffic volume and time with the available budget as well as determine the required material, the factories, stores capacities and the needed labor..
5.2 Conclusions
1- An optimum maintenance program is required to ensure a satisfactory safety margin and prevent a permanent degradation of track quality taking into consideration the best operational efficiency with the lowest cost-effective.
2- According to the comparison of the four classifications (theoretical ENR, actual ENR, UIC line and proposed of track sections to be applied on ENR for year 2011), the statistical analysis shows that the classifications of the above-mentioned categories are totally different as shown in the two following examples:
