Outcomes of Limb Salvage with Vascular Reconstruction in Lower Extremity Sarcoma, A Systematic Review of Literature and Meta-analysis

Ibrahim Mahmoud Abdel Monem;

Abstract

SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION
T
he results of this study indicate that limb-sparing surgery can be achieved for patients with lower extremity sarcoma with vascular involvement with relatively similar outcomes and were associated with similar overall survival compared with those not requiring revascularization. However, this comes at a cost of multiple surgical re-interventions and significantly prolonged time to wound healing.
Although no lack in studies published regarding vascular reconstruction in limb salvage surgery for lower extremity sarcomas, yet the quality of published studies is low. Further high quality randomized studies are needed to support the results of this study.
