Lower Cretaceous (Aptian-Albian) Foraminifera and Ostracoda from Northern Sinai, Egypt
Abdel-Galil A. Hewaidy; A. Morsi;
Abstract
The well exposed Lower Cretaceous Risan Aneiza Formation in the area to the north and east of Gebel Maghara in northern Sinai yielded seventeen foramininferal and thirteen ostracode species. These fauna are systematically described and discussed where necessary. Bulbobaculites globosa is believed to be new. The recorded assemblage together with the associated macrofossils implicate an Aptian-Albian age for the Risan Aneiza Formation in the study area. A shallow, warm marine environment is indicated by the foraminiferal and ostracode assemblages.
